Willemite Ceramics

Pottery & Jewelry Handmade by Evan Cornish-Keefe
I love to use techniques that create one of a kind pieces. Techniques such as crystalline glazes, Mocha Diffusion, and Neriagé.
From original idea to final product, I strive to put care into every step of the process.
This includes producing my own unique glaze formulas, and testing my own clay recipes (I get very nerdy about glaze chemistry). As well as wheel throwing, casting, moldmaking and sculpting.

Neriage
A technique in which two clays are marbled together and then carved through to create intricate, almost symmetrical patterns.
This technique is very fun (and challenging), it's exciting to see the detailed patterns emerge as i carve, these patterns often resemble a Rorschach Test.
Neriagé Pottery
Porcelain with Sterling Silver
Making jewelry began for me as a way to turn glaze test tiles into finished pieces.
Now it has evolved to a new line of earrings and necklaces available in seven different crystalline glazes, and finished with sterling silver.

Crystalline Glazes
I develop my own porcelain and glaze formulas.
Creating a porcelain that is durable and acts as a blank canvas to show the glazes I develop.
These glazes are designed to form crystals within the thin layer of glaze that coats the piece, these crystals grow within the molten glass while the kiln is white hot.
Willemite is one of a few crystals that will form in these glazes, it reflects sunlight in a beautiful shimmering way, which gemologists refer to as "chatoyancy".
Crystalline Pottery
Art designed to be functional, durable, and beautiful.
